Originally, Limousin cattle, recognizable by their wheat color and illuminated mucous membranes, were mixed-meat animals (i.e., medium-sized with good muscle development), with very fine bones and recognized maternal qualities: small, vigorous calves at birth, good fertility, females that calve alone and are able to raise their calves until weaning thanks to their good milk production. The selection choices made have led to much greater morphological diversity, since today the Limousin cattle population ranges from the very early type (small meat) to the late type (size, growth). This makes it a breed of choice for all types of production, whether purebred (milk-fed and Aveyron calves, grazers, bullocks, heavy heifers, fat cows and steers) or crossbred with dairy breeds.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
